This list will never be complete without you telling us where you live. For now, have a look at the people and places that make the Surf community as vibrant and real as it is:
And here's the news we have about our friends..
This is the Rev performing at Surf Reality back in the day…
So I get this phone call from New York Howl front man and Surf Reality Art Star, Andrew Katz; he’s in Hollywood shooting a sit com pilot for Fox and he says “Hey Rob, guess what happened yesterday after the shoot; you are never going to believe this.”
Before I could answer he says “So I’m talking to my director and he says to me “Andrew, you’re a New Yorker, have you ever heard of a theater called Surf Reality?” Andrew says” Dude, you could not have put 2 words together more beautiful than that.”
It Turns out Andrew was working under the direction of Chris Koch an old friend of Surf Reality from back in the day ( mid 1990s )… Chris was a good friend of our old friend , the late great R.J. “Russ” Riley. Russ had a small talent management agency and he would go out of his way to send out Surf Art Stars. In those days Chris ran a small production company here in NYC and he would book the talent that Russ would send him. I recall that the last cartoon remake of the Bannana Splits featured the voices of Surf Reality Art Stars in every role. Chris’s company produced that show. He later did a feature film called “Snow Days”.Then I lost track of him.
What’s cool about this story is how Chris could tell Andrew was from our scene. It’s a kind of magic, we will always be able to find one another.
Once we start writing about our friends, you’ll see those posts here. For now, check out the links above and visit those near and dear to us!
