This open mike, now in its 12th year, is a little bit odd. It’s about respect. There are a couple of things you should know before plunking down your 4 bucks.
Performers: Sign up is at 9pm by lottery, 8 minute maximum per act. You can do ANYTHING you’d like with only 2 exceptions:
Audience: Your value here is immeasurable. You probably won’t like every act. If something offends or bores you, you can leave and return as often as you’d like. I ask for only one thing from you:
Everyone: I truly hope you have fun tonight. If you feel that there is value in this format of mutual respect and free expression, you can help it continue by spending some dough (don’t forget to tip!) and telling your friends. If you have no money or friends then I hope we have lifted your spirits and made you feel welcome.”
